How to export your EDL

First move all your video onto one track, then export the EDL.

Step 1 — Collapse all video onto V1

  1. Select everything in your timeline: Cmd+A (Mac) / Ctrl+A (Win).
  2. Hold Option (Mac) / Alt (Win) and press the Down Arrow repeatedly.
  3. Each press drops the clips down one track. Keep going until all your picture sits on V1 with nothing left on V2, V3, etc.

Tip: work on a duplicate of your sequence if you want to keep your layered edit intact.

Step 2 — Export the EDL

  1. Go to File → Export → EDL…
  2. Check: Use Source File Name · Include Original Video File Name · Include Original Audio File Name · Include Blank Events
  3. Uncheck: Include Transitions · Include Video Levels · Include Audio Levels
  4. Set Audio Processing to Audio Separately
  5. Tracks to Export — Video: Video 1 · Audio 1: Music (your music track) · all other Audio: None
  6. Click OK, save the .edl file and upload it below.

⚠ Picture clips left on V2, V3 etc. will not appear — bring everything down to V1 first. Music on your dedicated audio track is detected automatically.

The workflow mirrors Premiere: collapse all video onto one track, then export a CMX 3600 EDL.

Step 1 — Collapse all video onto Video 1

  1. On the Edit page, click in the timeline and select all: Cmd+A (Mac) / Ctrl+A (Win).
  2. Hold Option (Mac) / Alt (Win) and press the Down Arrow to nudge clips down one track at a time, until all picture sits on V1.
  3. Alternatively, drag the clips down manually so nothing remains on V2, V3, etc.

Tip: duplicate the timeline first (right-click it in the Media Pool → Duplicate Timeline) to keep your layered edit.

Step 2 — Export the EDL

  1. Right-click the timeline in the Media Pool → Timelines → Export → Timeline… (or File → Export → Timeline…).
  2. Set the format to CMX 3600 EDL.
  3. If asked, choose Video 1 as the track to export.
  4. Save the .edl file and upload it below.

⚠ Resolve exports one video track per EDL — collapse everything to V1 first. Resolve's EDL is video-only, so add any music rows by hand, or drop the track's .mp3 onto a music row to auto-fill it.

Final Cut Pro X has no native EDL export. Flatten your edit to the primary storyline, export via File → Export XML…, then convert the XML to a CMX 3600 EDL using a tool such as XtoCC or Recut. Upload the resulting .edl below.

Bring all your video onto V1 before exporting Only clips on Track V1 are written to the EDL. Anything left on V2, V3 etc. appears as a black gap and will be skipped here.
